Karak Sri Subramaniar Temple is first temple situated on the left side of Kuala Lumpur - Kuantan highway. It was started as a small temple in a shed, by the then JKR (Government) workers. The main celebrations here are like other temples in Malaysia. Thaipoosam, Kandha Sashti, Thiruvilakku, Thirukkalyaanam and Kaarththigai are some of them. Speeches about religion are also presented regularly. Bhajans are held every Friday evening.
This temple is regularly visited by the nearly 1000 Hindu families in this town. Devotees on their way to the capital, and also other temples in the East, make a halt here to worship. Temple tour buses from the capital and Penang usually make a stop here before proceeding to the Maran Sri Marathaandavar Temple, further east. On several occasions, devotees have done special poojas and re-visited this temple as a way of saying 'Thanks' to Lord Murugan, after having their prayers answered. During the Thaipoosam festival, around 5000 devotees visit here. Normally Paal Kodams (milk pots) and kaavadis are carried and presented to Lord Murugan during this festival. We try to discourage the use of 'Alagu' Kaavadis here.
The temple priest will be present from 7am to 9am and from 3pm to 9pm daily. At other times, the Sannithi will be locked for security reasons, but the temple premises will be open for devotees to worship. Morning pooja is at 7am and evening pooja is at 7pm. The morning abishegam is at 6.30am and the evening abishegam is at 3pm. During the month of Maargazhi, the morning abishegam is performed at 4.30am.
